One of our alters, Christine, wrote this poem before we knew we were a poly-fragmented dissociative identity disorder system. We were diagnosed with DID at the time. Not all of our alters can relate, nor can a lot of other DID systems. It is about connecting and supporting alters within our body that have experienced similar abuse to one another.
Fighting high
Fighting low
We stand together
Fighting strong
No matter how
Things turn out
We always come
Out on top
Fighting high
Fighting low
We stand together
Fighting strong
Our journeys have
Been the same
So we know how
Each other feels
Fighting high
Fighting low
We stand together
Fighting strong
If we stand as
One we will go
So much further
Through the pain
Fighting high
Fighting low
We stand together
Fighting strong
We don’t need
To fight our
Connection anymore
As we have always been one
Fighting high
Fighting low
We stand together
Fighting strong
It hasn’t been
A great path
Where’ve travelled
But hand in hand
We can keep…
Fighting high
Fighting low
As we stand together
Fighting strong
You are my friends
And you know how I feel
And I know how you all feel
So we don’t have to explain anything
But we all are
Fighting high
Fighting low
As we all stand together
Fighting strong
Nothing will ever
Take away
Our bond we share
As we all are all one
Like a mother
And her children
I’ll nurse us all to sleep
And keep us safe
Fighting high
Fighting low
Fighting strong
As we all stand together as one….
“We don’t need
To fight our
Connection anymore
As we have always been one.”
